Mass Timber in NYC

I was in New York City last week and chatted with a number of architects, developers, and manufacturers who are excited about the new building code going into effect November 7th, allowing mass timber up to 7 stories in the city! Key provisions include allowing mass timber in exterior walls, which is often a technical hurdle even with mass timber slabs extending into the exterior wall for platform framed exterior walls. It is great to see progress in sustainable building in such an influential place.
